During a computer science class for adults, the teacher decided to run an experiment with the group. He split up the group, based on gender. The women on one side of the room, the men on the other. He asked them to discuss for about 10 minuntes whether computers should be adressed in the masculine or feminine form. After ten minutes, both groups had their answer. The teacher first asked the group of men. They had decided unanimously that computers should be adressed in the feminine gender. "Why?" asked the teacher. The men gave four reasons for their decision: 1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic; 2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else; 3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored on their harddrive for later retrieval; 4. As soon as you commit to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessorizing it. The group of women decided however, that computers should be addressed in the masculine form, because: 1. In order to get their attention, you first have to turn them on; 2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves; 3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; 4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.
